Kourtney Kardashian has been slammed for “dismissive” parenting after fans overheard her reaction to Reign’s “strange” behavior

KOURTNEY Kardashian has faced criticism for her reaction to her son Reign’s behavior in a new video.

The Hulu personality confronted the eight-year-old about his behavior at school on the latest episode of The Kardashians.

On the scene, Kourtney, 44, and her husband Travis Barker, 47, attended the grand opening of Travis’ new vegan restaurant in Los Angeles, Crossroads Kitchen.

They took some of their children with them including Reign and Penelope, 10 – Kourtney’s younger children with her ex Scott Disick, 40.

Travis’ daughter Alabama, 17, and step-daughter Atiana, 24, by his ex-wife Shanna Moakler, 47, also joined the group.

At one point, Kourtney reached out to her youngest, Reign, and asked him about his alleged antics in his classroom.

“I heard you ate crayons and paper at school. Is that true?” the Poosh founder asked her son, who seemed shocked by his mother’s claim.

“I didn’t eat crayons in school,” he quickly denied, though Kourtney wasn’t convinced.

“So what is your teacher talking about?” replied the mother-of-three.

“She’s a liar,” Reign said, brushing off his mother’s questions.

Travis and Atiana laughed at the little one’s response and Kourtney ended the conversation.

PARENT GAME

However, fans didn’t find the exchange funny and voiced their thoughts on a popular Keeping Up With the Kardashians message board.

One person started the discussion with the caption, “What about Kourtney’s reaction to Reign eating crayons and paper?”

The user went on to explain that they thought Kourtney’s reaction was “strange” and that she should have handled the situation better.

“Did anyone else find this conversation strange? I get that kids do weird things sometimes and it’s not particularly profound, but the fact that his teacher felt the need to tell Kourtney about it makes me think this wasn’t a one-time thing and she wanted Kourtney to do the addressed the situation.

“And I didn’t like the fact that Reign called his teacher a liar and Kourtney dropped that completely. Maybe they talked about it more behind the camera, but the whole situation upset me in the wrong way.”

They also pointed out that Reign’s “acting” could be a call for attention.

Many fans agreed that Kourtney’s handling of the issue wasn’t the best, with some saying she completely “dismissed” her son’s worrisome behavior.

“Kourtney thinks she’s having a soft parenting when in fact she’s having a dismissive parenting,” commented another.

“I hope (probably wrongly) that she spoke to him more seriously off camera,” wrote another.

“She pretends her kids are her friends and seems afraid to correct and educate them when necessary,” noted a third.

Meanwhile, others defended the model, theorizing that parts of the conversation could have been left out.

“The scene has an abrupt cut, so it’s obvious we don’t see the natural ending to the conversation. Who knows what she said or how she dealt with it. But both Penelope and Mason seem to be well-balanced and polite kids, so I think Kourtney is. “She’s handling her upbringing quite well,” said one fan.

“Hopefully she’s mastered it off camera! Kourtney has always been a… different… parent. Hopefully she did the right thing for her kids.”

Kourtney is also mom to a 13-year-old son, Mason, with Scott, and Travis has a 19-year-old son, Landon, with Shanna, although neither was present at the event.

GROWING FAMILY

The blended family will soon be adding another child to their brood as Kourtney recently announced her pregnancy.

The TV star shared the news by holding up a sign that read “Travis I’m pregnant” in front of the crowd at a Blink 182 concert.

Travis is the rock band’s drummer and the gesture was a nod to their “All The Small Things” music video, which featured a hunky groupie holding a similar sign while rocking out to the music.

Hours later, Kourtney posted a series of photos to Instagram that showed off her growing baby bump.

She then revealed they were expecting a baby boy by sharing a clip from her gender reveal party.
