Charles automatically became king after Her Majesty’s sad death.

Before King Charles’s speech, bells are expected to ring in St Paul’s Cathedral, Westminster Abbey and Windsor Castle at noon.

A gun salute will then be fired at 1pm in London’s Hyde Park – one round for each year the Queen has been.

What is His Majesty expected to say?

The new king is likely to make the speech relatively short as he pays tribute to his late mother.

On September 8, 2022, Charles, now known as King Charles III, made a somber statement while leading the nation’s mourning.

The new king said: “The death of my beloved mother, Her Majesty the Queen, is a moment of immense sadness for me and all members of my family.

“We deeply mourn the passing of a cherished sovereign and a beloved mother.

“I know her loss will be felt deeply across the country, in the rich and in the Commonwealth, and by countless people around the world.

“During this time of sorrow and change, my family and I are comforted and strengthened by our knowledge of the respect and deep affection that was so widespread for the Queen.”
