The visit, which includes a 21-shot salute, is the first time a British royal has traveled to Northern Ireland in 80 years.

And it comes just hours after Charles and his siblings stood in silent contemplation by their mother’s coffin last night.

It comes as…

Charles waved to onlookers as he left Edinburgh Airport this morning.

Camilla received a bouquet of pink flowers when greeted by school children at Belfast City Airport today.

She and the King are expected to be greeted by thousands more mourners this afternoon as they continue their tour of the British homelands.

As a mark of respect to Queen Elizabeth II, her royal cavalcade will later parade through Wellington Place, Donegall Square North, Chichester Street and Victoria Street.

And Their Majesties will have the opportunity to see floral tributes at Hillsborough Castle – the King’s official residence in Northern Ireland – with well-wishers awaiting them outside the gates.

Marking the couple’s entrance, a 21-gun salute will sound before a picture exhibition showing the Queen in Northern Ireland is unveiled inside.

Charles will later meet the Foreign Secretary for Northern Ireland, Chris Heaton-Harris MP, along with other party leaders.

The Speaker of the Northern Ireland Assembly is also to deliver a message of condolences to the Queen.

That evening, the King and Queen Consort will attend a prayer and reflection service for the life of the Queen at St Anne’s Cathedral.

More than 800 people from across Northern Ireland and beyond are expected to attend the service.

Charles and Camilla will then take a walking tour of Writers’ Square before leaving Northern Ireland.

The Queen’s four children bowed their heads over Her Majesty’s coffin as she solemnly lay down at St Giles Cathedral in Edinburgh last night.

It will fly from Edinburgh to Buckingham Palace today as millions of mourners queue for hours to say their goodbyes.

Her Majesty will be flown by Royal Air Force aircraft to RAF Northolt, north west London, where she is expected to arrive at 7pm.

The public can view the funeral procession before the Queen is taken in a state hearse – escorted by Anne and Vice Admiral Sir Tim – to Buckingham Palace to rest in the Bow Room.

Charles and Camilla are traveling back to London from Northern Ireland tonight.
