KIELY Rodni has already been cremated as the family said a private farewell to the tragic teenager ahead of her funeral this month, a source exclusively told The US Sun.
The 16-year-old was found in her submerged car in Prosser Reservoir almost two weeks after she disappeared last month, and her cause of death has not yet been released.
And now a source close to the family told The US Sun: “There will be no funeral. She was cremated, that’s why we had this memorial.”
They added that despite conspiracy theories, Kiely Rodni was murdered and they believed her death to be an accident after she was last seen drunk at a graduation near a family campground in Truckee, California.
“My heart physically hurts every second of every day,” the source said, adding that her family is desperate for a closure.
They described Kiely as a bright young girl with a bright future ahead of her, saying she was “outgoing, happy, always a great listener and just such a wonderful person”.
In response to a query from The US Sun, a representative of Kiely’s family wrote: “The family feels that they have already shared so much that they would prefer to keep some decisions a secret.
“As such, they respectfully choose not to comment. Thank you for your understanding.”
The Nevada County Sheriff’s Office and Nevada County Medical Examiner were also reached for comment.
The teenager’s loved ones held a celebration of life for the greatly missed teenager on September 10, but the media has been asked to keep their distance in the interests of the teenagers in attendance.
Prayer flags were hung across Truckee Regional Park for the ceremony on Saturday and Kiely’s mother, Lindsey Rodni-Nieman, spoke to local news outlets.
“We are so grateful that today we have the opportunity to join with our friends, family and community on behalf of Kiely,” she told KCRA at the memorial service.
“Although we gather, grief and healing is such a personal and individual thing. Today we will honor Kiely by honoring and supporting one another as we mourn in our own ways.
“We will laugh, dance, share songs and poetry, or maybe we will cry in the corner or on the podium. It’s OK.
“We will remember and create new memories as we all learn how to thrive in the world where we miss her.”
“We are so blessed to miss her together and to be able to move forward together.
“The way she brought everyone together even in death is a legacy I will forever cherish.
“I hear stories in her memory about people trying to be nicer to each other.
“Kiely’s dear friend recently told her mother that before all this happened she thought the word community had no real meaning, that it didn’t really exist.
“But after Kiely was gone, the way our community emerged in full force showed her that she is actually so very real and so powerful.
“That kind of impact on our teenagers gives me hope. The show of strength and togetherness and the way they have an army of supporters behind them will take them far as they grow up.”
She added that she wanted to thank those who have supported the family for their “kindness, generosity and compassion” at the tragic time of Kiely’s loss.
Lindsey continued to slam web detectives who continue to speculate and blame her on/off boyfriend, Jagger Westfall, who was acquitted early in her investigation.
The 18-year-old received death threats despite providing evidence to law enforcement that he was not at the party and had not seen Kiely in days.
The Nevada County Sheriff’s Office has declined to confirm or deny whether they suspect foul play until they complete their investigation into her death.
Lindsey said: “Unfortunately the madness has become such a monster on social media that our teenagers are suffering and we want to create a safe space where they can heal together without fear of anything being taken from the content .
“By anyone who derives pleasure or satisfaction from commenting online. I ask you to take a moment to look within and try to see your motive.
“Remember the three gates through which all words should flow. is it friendly Is it true? Is it helpful?”
She concluded: “I beg you to remember that there is honor and kindness in silence in minding your own business.
“You are talking about the death of my child, the child of our community. It is time our children quietly and peacefully mourn the loss of their friend.”
Police searched for Kiely for days but found not a single lead until volunteer dive team Adventures with Purpose joined the search.
They located their car not long after arriving in Truckee using top-of-the-line sonar technology as they specialize in underwater vehicle location and cold case resolution.
Doug Bishop, a key member of the team, told The US Sun this week he didn’t think Jagger was involved in her death but still thought it was “suspicious”.
The Nevada County Sheriff’s Office says they are still awaiting toxicology results and completing their investigation before announcing the cause of death — which could be weeks.
