Kepa offered Napoli a career lifeline following the Chelsea keeper’s exile as the Serie A club prepared a loan offer

NAPOLI have reportedly inquired about the possibility of joining Chelsea outcast Kepa Arrizabalaga on loan this summer.

According to Marca, the Partenopei have contacted the Blues about a potential deal that would see 27-year-old Kepa play at Napoli next season.

The Spain goalkeeper joined the west Londoners in 2018 after receiving a club-record fee of £71.6million from Athletic Bilbao.

However, the 27-year-old fell out of favor after a series of slips between the sticks.

Thus, the Spain international became Edouard Mendy’s understudy since the Senegalese goalkeeper’s arrival in 2020.

Since then, Kepa has had to settle for the bench and a few cup games.

But the Basque ace could be tied for a career lifeline at Napoli, who recently lost David Ospina to Al Nassr.

The young goalkeeper could be happy about a change as he previously insisted his “clear goal” is to play.

Kepa recently said: “I’m at Chelsea and I want to be successful here.

“And if that’s not possible, we will analyze other things because my clear goal is to play.

“I’m not desperate. I’m at a great club after all… I’ll talk to the manager and we’ll decide, but with a clear message that I want to play more.”

If Kepa joins Napoli, he will still have to compete against Alex Meret for first place.
