Kelly Ripa admits the new live format change is “weird” – but Mark insists the intimate clip is “funny and relatable”.

KELLY Ripa and Mark Conseulos have clashed over Live’s new opening montage.
The hit ABC morning show reprized its inaugural premiere earlier this month to accompany the new season.
Kelly, 52, and Mark, 52, began last Wednesday’s live episode arguing about the new Monday.
In the new intro – revised since Mark Ryan took Seacrest’s place – they brush their teeth to get ready and spit out their toothpaste.
Kelly expressed that she doesn’t like the clip and then magically the couple is ready to leave.
Kelly told her husband, “I noticed something backstage while we were waiting to go on.”
“Does anyone else think it’s weird that we start the show off with Mark and I spitting in a sink?”
The crowd laughed, and then executive producer Mark Gelman said from offstage, “I think it’s real.”
“Yes, it’s real,” Mark agreed.
But Kelly wasn’t having it.

“It’s a strange thing to open with”
Kelly replied sarcastically, “Oh yeah, it’s really real how we twirl around and suddenly we’re all dressed up.”
Mark added: “It’s understandable.”
Kelly still wasn’t convinced: “Is it?” I find it strange.”
“I just realized it, I was like, ‘Wait, are we spitting in a sink?'”
The EP and Mark said other “good parts” of their morning routine were left out.
She continued: “That’s really strange to open a show with.”
“Welcome to our show,” she mimicked, then fake spit on the anchor desk.
Mark corrected that it wasn’t even a real sink – or real spit – but Kelly stood her ground: “It’s just weird.”
BIG CHANGES
The new opener premiered at the beginning of September and accompanied the latest season.
The video first shows the couple brushing their teeth in their pajamas before changing into their show outfits.
They then jump into a yellow taxi, where the couple appears to be discussing their upcoming show.
We then pan to the interior of the ABC studio, where the audience and producers are eagerly waiting for the show to begin.
At the end, you see Mark twirling his wife around in slow motion as the two smile directly into the camera.
Kelly wears a pink button-down dress while Mark wears a red long-sleeve shirt and black pants.
The new format comes after the program went on hiatus over the summer – and after Mark became co-host.
Kelly’s former co-host Ryan announced his departure from the show in March after six years.
Mark took over immediately after Ryan’s exit.
Mark has had a few problems since taking office, including asking if a guest’s father was a “pot dealer.”
He also had a hard time pronouncing tennis star Coco Gauff’s last name and joked he had a “mini-stroke.”
