Karim Benzema follows all but FIVE team-mates from France – but still follows Zidane amid rumors he could return to fold

BALLON d’OR winner Karim Benzema left all but FIVE of his French team-mates behind after his World Cup elimination.

Benzema was sent home on the eve of the tournament after picking up an injury.

But there was speculation he could return to France for last Sunday’s final against Argentina.

However, he reportedly turned down the opportunity to return to Qatar after falling out with manager Didier Deschamps.

Benzema then retired from international football and took to social media to announce his decision after France’s final penalty shoot-out loss to the South Americans.

And according to Marca, most of his former international pals haven’t lost love.

Benzema followed all but FIVE French aces.

Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni, Kylian Mbappe, Raphael Varane and Marcus Thuram all survived the mass cheating.

Camavinga and Tchouameni are Benzema’s teammates at Madrid.

Varane also used to play alongside the striker at Los Blancos.

However, the 2022 Ballon d’Or winner continued to succeed French icon Zinedine Zidane, who is rumored to be keen on taking over as Les Bleus manager.

Deschamps are believed to be weighing up his future after the World Cup and Zidane is one of the favorites to take over.

And Benzema could come out of retirement to play under his former Real Madrid manager.

Interestingly, Salt Bae survived.

Nusret Gökce caused controversy with his appearance on the pitch after the World Cup final.

Salt Bae held the trophy, which Fifa now wants to investigate.

He also harassed players including world champion captain Lionel Messi, who seemed mostly unfazed by the chef.
