KANSAS City Chiefs star Willie Gay was arrested, just four days before the NFL team was due to play.
The Overland Park Police Department arrested the 23-year-old at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday.
He was charged with criminal damage just two hours later.
Prison records show Gay is still in custody and he is scheduled to appear in court this afternoon.
Gay was a second-round pick for the Chiefs’ 2020 NFL Draft.
He is a key member of the team and has scored 87 tackles, two interceptions and 1.5 clearances in 28 games.
The captains will play the Buffalo Bills on Sunday in their Division Round match. It is not clear if Gay will compete with the team.
