CHELSEA reportedly had a £34m offer plus either Timo Werner or Christian Pulisic who were rejected by Juventus for Matthijs De Ligt.
SunSport recently explained how the Blues are preparing a player-plus-cash deal to bring the Dutch centre-back to Stamford Bridge.
Blues boss Thomas Tuchel really wants to get the 22-year-old out of Turin to strengthen his defence.
The west London team are on the lookout for centre-backs after Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen left as free agents.
And they’ve turned their interest into a formal approach for De Ligt but, according to Tuttosport, it was quickly repulsed by the old lady.
A £34million proposal has been said to have been sent to the Serie A giants, with Werner or Pulisic included in the deal.
But coach Massimiliano Allegri isn’t keen on either striker despite being on the lookout for attackers.
They also believe the fee is well below their asking price, which has been set at £86million.
The Italian news outlet add that it remains to be seen whether Chelsea will return with an improved offer.
However, they have explained that Chelsea have the funds to sign De Ligt after acquiring Todd Boehly in a deal worth £4.25billion.

De Ligt still has two years to complete his contract at the Allianz Stadium but he has reportedly told the club he intends to leave after submitting a transfer request.
And he fueled speculation about a potential exit earlier this month after admitting he could turn down a new contract offer from Juve.
Speaking to Dutch outlet NOS, he remarked: “Discussions are ongoing between me and Juventus.
“Once the moment is right, I decide to extend or have another look.”
Alongside De Ligt, Chelsea are also still in the running to sign Sevilla ace Jules Kounde but know they face competition from Barcelona.
