MUSICIAN Julee Cruise’s husband has revealed the heartbreaking last thing he did for her before her death on Thursday aged 65.

Edward Grinnan confirmed his wife’s death in a Facebook post, saying she is now “at peace”.

He also revealed that he played the song “Roam” to his wife in their final moments.

The song, performed by the band B-52, was a smash hit in 1990, peaking at number three on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Cruise, who announced she had the autoimmune disease lupus in 2018, occasionally performed with B-52.

She would fill in for Cindy Wilson, who was a singer and one of the band’s founding members, IMDB reported.

“For those of you going back, I thought you might like to know that today I said goodbye to my wife Julee Cruise,” Grinnan wrote.

“She left this realm on her own terms. No regret. she is at peace

“Having had such a varied music career, she often said that the time she spent as B stand-in for Cindy while raising a family was the happiest time of her musical life,” he continued.

“She will be forever grateful to them. When she first got on the mic with Fred and Kate, she said it was like joining the Beatles. She will always love them and will never forget their trips around the world together.

“I played her roam during her transition. Now she will roam forever. Rest in peace my love and all the best to you.”

Cruise had her own success in the music industry.

She released four albums from 1989 to 2011 and is best known for the song “Falling,” which was used as the theme song for the show Twin Peak, multiple outlets reported.

She was also known for working with David Lynch, the man behind Twin Peaks, and was often considered his muse.

Cruise appeared on the show as a bar singer and had her music included in the show and its soundtrack, Variety reported.

She also starred in the long-awaited third season of Twin Peaks in 2017.

And she appeared on “Saturday Night Live” in 1990, when Sinéad O’Connor decided to protest Andrew Dice Clay’s event that weekend.

Cruise’s impact on the music industry was widespread, from her unique voice to her acting performances, Variety reported.

She covered Elvis Presley’s Summer Kisses, Winter Tears for Wim Wenders’ film soundtrack Bis the End of the World and worked alongside Nicolas Cage and Laura Dern in Lynch-directed Industrial Symphony No. 1, The Guardian reported .
