Comedian Judy Tenuta has died at her home in California at the age of 72.
Tenuta was known for her characters The Love Goddess and Aphrodite of the Accordion.
Tenuta died after battling stage four ovarian cancer, publicist Roger Neal told The Associated Press.
She died Thursday at her home in Studio City.
“She was a very fun, amazing performer,” Neal told the AP, saying it’s always a “happy time to be with her.”

Tenuta built her career in the 1980s touring with George Carlin.
In 1987, she gained national attention after starring alongside Ellen DeGeneres, Paula Poundstone and Rita Rudner in an HBO special called On Location: Women of the Night.
In next year’s American Comedy Awards TV special, Tenuta was named Best Female Comedy Club Actress.

“RIP Judy Tenuta… During her battle with cancer she came to my podcast to talk about it. It was an honor to have spoken to Judy, she was a fighter to the end. Thanks for all the laughs. RIP “The Love Goddess” & “Aphrodite of the Accordion,” Jeff Dwoskin tweeted.
“I am truly sorry to hear of the passing of Judy Tenuta, who has not only carved out a truly unique place in comedy and performance, but was also a fierce and outspoken ally for LGBTQ+ causes in Hollywood at a time when it wasn’t fashionable an undeniable cult icon,” tweeted Michael Varrati.
“I felt less alone in the world as a kid because I knew there were people like Judy Tenuta out there. Rest in peace and thank you,” wrote one fan.
“I can’t believe that Judy Tenuta passed away at just 65 years old. She was grossly underestimated, so fearless and ahead of her time. She declared herself a goddess, called men pigs, imitated Elvis and played the accordion. I will forever say, “Sorry Pope!” because of Judy,” wrote another.
