Jose Mourinho wants to bring Man Utd on board for his former signing and build a team around him for a shock transfer

JOSE MOURINHO is keen to sign Fred from Manchester United, Sun Online has learned.
The Portuguese is planning a raid on his former club as the Brazilian has fallen further down the pecking order at Old Trafford.
A source said: “Jose has signed Fred for Manchester United and he remains a big, big fan of the player.
“He won’t be a regular next season, which puts Jose and Roma on high alert.”
“For Mourinho, Fred would be a key player and someone he would want to build a midfield around. The Roma midfield is aging and urgently needs new faces.”
Sun Online understand Mourinho has been promised funds to help Roma take ‘the next step’ in Serie A.
“Jose wants to fight for the title,” the source said. “He has the backbone of a good team but needs big reinforcements for them to compete at the top of the league.”
Mason Mount’s arrival at United leaves a question mark over the future of Fred and team-mate Scott McTominay.
Our source added: “Both players want to be first-team regulars. But Mount, Casemiro, [Bruno] Fernandes and [Christian] Eriksen is ahead of them all in the pecking order.
“Erik Ten Hag doesn’t want to lose either Fred or McTominay because he wants a team that can compete on all fronts next season.

“But if a big offer comes in and the players want to leave, ultimately the club will have to make a difficult decision.”
Sun Online understand West Ham are interested in the Scottish midfielder.
They will have money to spend after Declan Rice’s departure and want to expand their options in midfield.
The source added: “David Moyes is a huge fan. Rice is irreplaceable but McTominay would tick a lot of boxes for West Ham.”
