Joe Biden vows to take care of Chinese spy balloon as US plans to shoot down airship over Atlantic
PRESIDENT Joe Biden has vowed to take care of the alleged spy balloon hovering over the United States as the military reportedly prepares to shoot it down.
The plane has already overflown a nuclear missile base in Montana and its route will take it over the Carolinas before departing the East Coast Saturday afternoon.
According to the Daily Mail source, the military plans to stop the airship over the Atlantic.
Biden said, “We’re going to take it” as he exited Air Force One with his son Hunter Saturday morning at Hancock Field Air National Guard Base in upstate New York.
Washington officials have called the airship a “clear violation of US sovereignty.”
A senior US official said the White House did not want to launch the balloon over home soil, fearing a risk to American lives and worrying about sparking an international incident.
Falling debris from the attack on the airship could result in casualties, which is why officials decided against it earlier this week.
The Pentagon is reportedly planning to shoot down the airship so it can land in US territorial waters.
China claims the balloon was used for civilian meteorological and other scientific purposes.
And that it just strayed into US airspace.
Because of the airship, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has postponed his visit to China, which he had expected for this Friday.
On Friday, the Pentagon said another Chinese balloon had been sighted over Latin America, but didn’t give the exact location.
