Joao Cancelo joined Bayern Munich from Manchester City on a FREE loan deal with the German club having an option to buy
JOAO CANCELO joined Bayern Munich for FREE.
The Manchester City defender made the shock move to the Allianz Arena after a fall with Pep Guardiola.
Cancelo has been one of City’s top players in recent years but lost his place on the team after the World Cup and is said to have become disruptive.
After returning from Qatar, he started in just two Premier League games and moved to Germany after being missed for the FA Cup game against Arsenal.
Remarkably, it cost the Bundesliga champions nothing.
Because Bayern sports director Hasan Salihamidzic confirmed that it was a free loan without transfer.
An option to buy was included in the deal, with Cancelo only signing until the end of the season.
However, a permanent transfer for the Portugal international will cost Bayern £61.5million.
Regardless, the right-back has had a good start to his career in Germany.
Just a few days after his move was confirmed, he made his debut in the DFB Cup round of 16 against Mainz.

It took Cancelo just 17 minutes to record his first assist when he crossed for Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting to volley home the opener.
And he repeated the feat by setting up Kingsley Coman on his Bundesliga debut on Sunday as Bayern beat Wolfsburg 4-2.
