Jill Duggar’s husband Derick Dillard passes the bar exam to become a lawyer while brother-in-law Josh faces 20 years in prison

DERICK Dillard passed the bar exam almost a year after graduating from law school.

The Counting On star is now officially a lawyer after accepting the bar on March 23.

According to the Arkansas Supreme Court, Derick, 33, met all the requirements “to be admitted by the clerk of the Arkansas Supreme Court as [an] Attorney licensed to practice law in Arkansas.”

The milestone success comes after he and his wife Jill Duggar, 30, announced they are expecting a baby boy.

Derick graduated from the University of Arkansas Law School in May 2021, 10 years after graduating from Oklahoma State University’s School of Accounting.

He announced in 2020 that he was studying law to achieve his goal of becoming a “people’s defender or prosecutor”.

He and Jill previously served as missionaries in Central America.

However, their roles became too dangerous and they moved back to Arkansas.

Meanwhile, his brother-in-law Josh Duggar faces a 20-year sentence for possession of child pornography

Josh, 34, was found guilty of possession and receipt of child pornography on December 9, 2021 after a nearly two-week trial.

However, his sentencing was delayed by two months.

Josh requested a 30-day delay in the April 5 sentencing while he remains behind bars in the Washington County Jail in Arkansas.

The Sun exclusively revealed that Judge Timothy L. Brooks had granted the request and given him an additional month since his sentencing was scheduled for May 25.

Despite troubles in the extended family, Derick’s accomplishment comes at a great time for his and Jill’s growing brood.

she announced the gender of their baby in a blog post last month after recovering from Covid.

Jill announced she was pregnant again in February.

The news came months after she confirmed she had suffered a miscarriage.

In a blog post, Jill and Derick announced they were pregnant after losing their daughter River.

She wrote at the time: “We kept a little secret!”

Jill continued, “Since we were devastated by the miscarriage of our sweet baby River Bliss last fall, we have prayed that if it were God’s will, He would bless us with another baby.”

Her message ended with, “We are pleased to announce that God has heard our prayers and we are expecting our rainbow baby in July 2022!”
