In a YouTube Video Posted by LiveSigning Jill, 32, and her husband, Derick Dillard, 34, answered fans’ questions about their new memoir, “Counting the Cost,” which was released on Tuesday.

At one point, a fan asked if Jill was worried about Jana, 33 – the only adult, unmarried sibling – as she continued to live at home with her parents, Jim Bob, 57, and Michelle, 56, and follow institute teachings the Basic Principles of Life (IBLP).

Jill paused for a moment before answering, “I don’t know. I try not to interfere too much in my siblings’ lives. I don’t know where they all are.”

She continued: “I don’t want to talk about their stories and everything else. I let them tell their story or find out for themselves. I think for anyone who grew up in IBLP, it’s definitely a process, and it’s one that’s very hard to get away from and kind of get through.

The former TLC star then praised her sister Jinger’s explanation in her book, Becoming Free Indeed, released in January, about “unraveling faith” and the difficult process that can come with it.

Derick chimed in, noting that it’s difficult to see the flaws in IBLP teachings when you’re involved in them, and that stepping down gave them a better perspective.

FAN REACTIONS

Fans commented on Jill’s response in an online forum, with many believing it was a sensitive subject for the mother of three.

“It looked like she was about to cry while talking about Jana,” one person wrote in the thread.

“That’s the face of someone who, no matter what she says, is actually worried about Jana,” another agreed.

Others praised Jill for not speaking for her siblings and only telling her own story about breaking with her family’s religious beliefs.

“She wants to fly out of the nest”

However, Jill’s cousin Amy, 36, hasn’t held back from talking about the Duggar clan, as she has been vocal about her uncle Jim Bob’s opposing views.

She recently shared her fears for Jana in an interview diversity Magazine.

“I really hope in the good Lord about this [Jana] is happy and successful and processing everything she’s experienced, but I’m not in touch with her,” Amy told the outlet.

“Anyone who lives with someone in the IBLP is under their control, so I don’t know if she’s necessarily allowed to do that.”

In January 2021, a source told US Sun that Jana was really wants to move out from her family home, but couldn’t until she found a husband.

“Jana is very independent and alpha compared to her sisters, but she can’t get her own apartment until she meets someone her family approves of,” the insider revealed.

“The Duggars are so religious that they would not approve of her moving out and living alone or living with a boyfriend or boyfriend. It’s frowned upon, it’s ridiculous, but it’s always been that way.”

“She wants to run away, but it’s hard because she needs to find the right man, which is every girl’s goal, and she hates being the last single sister.”
