JAKE PAUL’s fight with Hasim Rahman Jr. was canceled at the last minute.
The YouTube star was scheduled to fight at Madison Square Garden next weekend.
But a statement released Saturday night slammed Rahman for appearing to have moved the goalposts.
A statement from Most Valuable Promotions said Rahman’s team attempted to change the fighting weight from 200 pounds to 215 pounds.
And it read, “The boxing community must hold Hasim Rahman Jr. accountable for his lack of professionalism.”
Rahman and his team reportedly assured that he was on track to hit 200 pounds at Friday’s weigh-in.
Paul’s team claims they are ready to increase the weight to 200 pounds, but Rahman said he would come in at 215 pounds.
And drastic action was taken when the fight was halted and refunds were offered to ticket holders and PPV buyers.
Paul was scheduled to fight British reality star and boxer Tommy Fury.
But Fury faced visa issues and was unable to fight the YouTuber at Madison Square Garden.
Paul had trained with former world champion Chad Dawson prior to the fight.
He was set for one of the toughest fights of his young boxing career.
It was to be the sixth pro fight for the younger Paul brother and he is undefeated so far.
