JADA Pinkett Smith finally broke her silence after shocking Oscars moment when Will Smith slapped Chris Rock.
The actress struggles with alopecia and has recently shaved her head as a result.
Now Jada, 50, has spoken out after the viral event during Sunday’s awards ceremony.
The Matrix star took to her Instagram feed to share a quote on a plain pink background, reading: “This is a season of healing and I’m here for it.”
The mother-of-two has limited comment on the post to prevent further controversy following the weekend’s debacle.
On Sunday, March 27, 2022, Will Smith and Chris Rock engaged in a physical altercation at the 94th Annual Academy Awards.
When the comedian took the stage at the Oscars, he cracked a Jada Pinkett Smith-related joke.
“Jada I love you GI Jane 2 can’t wait to see it,” he said, referring to the actress’ shaved head.
After his comment, the camera panned to Jada, who didn’t look pleased.
Will Smith got up from his seat and walked onto the stage, slapping Chris in the face.
Audio and video transmissions in the United States were disrupted for several seconds during the incident.
Following the confrontation, Chris told the crowd, “Will Smith just threw the shit out of me.”
In return, Will shouted from his seat, “Keep my wife’s name out of your damn mouth.”
Jada announced in 2018 that she suffers from alopecia, a condition that causes rapid hair loss.
After the ceremony, Chris Rock declined to press charges against Will Smith.
A statement from the Los Angeles Police Department said: “LAPD investigators are aware of an incident between two individuals during the Academy Awards program.
“In the incident, one person hit another. The data subject has declined to file a police report.”
It continued, “If the party involved desires a police report at a later date, the LAPD is available to complete an investigative report.”
Shortly after the slap, Will won Best Actor for his role in King Richard.
During his acceptance speech, he apologized to the academy and his fellow candidates when he said, “Love will make you do crazy things.”
The next day, Will took to his Instagram to formally apologize.
“Violence in all its forms is poisonous and destructive,” he began.
“My behavior at the Oscars last night was unacceptable and inexcusable.
“Jokes at my expense are part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s health was too much for me and I reacted emotionally.”
He continued, “I want to publicly apologize to you Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong.
“I’m embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be.
“There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness.”
Will added, “I also want to apologize to the Academy, the show’s producers, all the contestants, and all viewers around the world.
“I would like to apologize to the Williams family and my King Richard family.”
