EVEN the luckiest of us will win the only lottery once, but double jackpot winners are more common than you might think.
In 2014, Mary Riedel won the lottery twice, with their jackpot earnings just four months apart.
The $50,000 first prize she won in 2014, and the generous mom gave the prize to her daughter to buy a home, LoveMoney notes.
Four months later, she stopped at a gas station and got a ticket.
After winning a few dollars on that one ticket, the Ohio woman won another $100,000 when she let the store clerk pick a random ticket for her.
“I just feel like the luckiest person I know,” Mary said at the time, revealing she planned to use the money towards her retirement.
Another winner saw a prize hit twice after his near-death experience.
Australian lorry driver and former caravanner Bill Morgan, aged 37 at the time of his victory, suffered a near-fatal lorry accident.
According to Lottery Critic, Bill died clinically for 14 minutes from a heart attack caused by the crash.
He was in a coma for a week and recommended life support be taken off, but after a miraculous recovery, Bill was amazed at his own luck and decided to play the lottery.
The lucky man won a $17.00 car via a scratch card.
A local news station in Melbourne wanted to recreate the win, so Bill went to the store where the ticket was bought and bought another scratch card.
He won a quarter of a million dollars live on air, reports LC.
While Bill’s story is particularly contradictory, another lucky player won three times in a single day in 2018.
Michigan’s Mark Maltz filled a company truck when he bought a scratch card and won $10.
He pushed his luck again with a fast cash ticket and won $15. Mark then bought another $5 Fast Cash Jack Black ticket and a $10 Jackpot Slots ticket, Love Money writes.
Mark won the entire jackpot slots pool worth $325,184.
The winner told ABC, “I’m going to sit on it for a while and decide how best to invest it and make it last.”
The methods of play are in line with the teachings of Mark Rustig, the late lottery expert and multi-jackpot winner who authored the book Learn How to Increase Your Chances of Winning the Lottery.
Lustig also developed lottery software called the Lottery Maximizer.
His wise advice was to use the money you win to buy more tickets.
He also swears by choosing his own numbers (in sequential order, of course) and staying true to the same set of numbers, lottery critic says.
Regardless of the tactic, the same philosophy remains clear: you can’t win if you don’t play.
