‘It’s criminal’ – Man Utd legend Paul Scholes tears at Scott McTominay and Fred after Brighton nightmare

PAUL SCHOLES has called Scott McTominay and Fred’s performances against Brighton “CRIMINAL”.
The duo had a day to forget as Manchester United were beaten 2-1 at home by the Seagulls in Erik ten Hag’s first game.

Fred struggled as United’s presenter at the base of a three-man midfield.
And McTominay fared little better in a box-to-box role as the Red Devils ran ragged all over the field.
Fans were particularly frustrated with the pair after United failed to finalize a deal for Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong.
And Old Trafford legend Paul Scholes, widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders in history, had little sympathy for the duo once affectionately known as McFred.
The pundit, who also saw ex-team-mate Roy Keane have a bang on United’s flops, exploded: “Fred keeps giving the ball away.
“McTominay runs with the ball on attack when he has Sancho, Rashford in front of him.
“Should pass the ball to Eriksen. It’s criminal.”
United’s day started terribly as Pascal Gross put Brighton ahead after 30 minutes.

Just nine minutes later, the German doubled the visitors’ lead.
And United were booed off the pitch by their own fans at half-time.
However, the substitution of Cristiano Ronaldo early in the second half saw the hosts redouble their efforts.
And they pulled one back in the 68th minute when Alexis Mac Allister scored a fateful own goal.
However, United struggled to collect themselves to find an equaliser.
And after the final whistle the boos rang out again as Brighton secured victory.
