She also claims she was groomed by friends and older men she met online before she arrived in Syria.

Begum appeared in an interview with Sky News wearing western-style clothing – yoga leggings, a pink sweater and a black cap, not the strict Islamic State attire.

Addressing the accusations, she committed atrocities as part of ISIS which she claims are “all completely untrue” saying the only crime she suffered is “come here” in Syria.

She added that she is expected to go to jail after a trial in the UK.

“I was willing to fight them in court but I was not given a chance,” she said.

Begum also claims that she’s been well-prepared for “weeks, weeks and maybe even months. It’s not just a decision I made very quickly, it’s a decision I’ve been thinking about.” in a period of time.”

“I don’t hate England, I really hate my life,” she told Sky News. “I feel very constrained, and I feel like I can’t live the life I want in the UK as a British woman.”

Begum, now 22, also expressed fear about the rising levels of violence in the camp and the number of fires that have broken out recently, which scared her. her high profile makes her a target to other prisoners.

She said: “For a long time it [the camp] It’s not violent but for some reason it just gets scarier to live here.

“Perhaps the women are tired of waiting for something.”

Begum also revealed that while she misses her family, she currently doesn’t talk to them and admits that she has failed them.

“I don’t think they failed me,” she said. “In a way, I failed them. When the time is right, I want to reconcile.”

Begum also addresses her marriage to a Dutch ISIS fighter Yago Riedijk, 29 years old, after she went to Syria.

While she admits they are still officially married, she says she doesn’t sympathize with him or even miss him.

In the camp she had a small group of friends who supported her, with a Dutch prisoner named Hafadda Haddouch saying that Begum used to hide in her tent for weeks.

‘NO PLAN B’

When asked what she would do if the government refused to change her mind and restore her citizenship, she simply replied: “No Plan B.”

In September of this year, Good Morning Britain was flooded with complaints after the broadcast of the interview with Begum.

The ITV breakfast show has been hit with 273 complaints to the television watchdog after airing the exclusive interview.

In July 2020, the Court of Appeal ruled that Begum should be allowed to return to the UK to fairly fight the decision by providing reasonable counsel.

The ruling was appealed to the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom, which in February unanimously ruled against her, thereby overturning the Court of Appeal’s decision.

Health Secretary Sajid Javid, who made the decision to revoke Shamima Begum’s citizenship, said it was “absolutely the right decision to protect the British people”.
