On January 19, Oakland The police department revealed that Clay Street between 11th and 14th Streets was closed due to “possibly an incendiary device”.

The Alameda County Sheriff’s bomb squad was also at the scene, but additional details remain unclear.

“We are working with our local and federal partners to keep the scene safe while we address the issue,” ACSO Bomb Squad tweeted.

Henry K. Lee of KTVU then report that a man was caught “acting suspiciously” on video, adding that the bomb was likely a pipe bomb, though that has yet to be confirmed.

“It has a lot of characteristics that relate to us,” Alameda County Sheriff Lt Ray Kelly said at a news conference.

“We have a role here as the bomb squad and that is to secure the area in the best possible way using the best techniques.”

The FBI were also brought in to help with the investigation.
