Is Shiba Inu launching a metaverse?

Cryptocurrency Developers Shiba Inu (SHIB) announced on Twitter that they will launch their own Metaverse project in 2022.

They are calling the virtual world Shiberse, named after the Japanese breed that was also the inspiration for the name of their coin.

Surname posted an image about a Shiba Inu dog with a hammer in his mouth in a forest and the caption contains an interesting announcement.

The tweet read: “As promised, we’re thrilled to announce our first special surprise of the year #ShibArmy!

“In 2022 we are reaching new heights and welcoming #Shiberse. A rich experience for our ecosystem and the Metaverse space!”

SHIB is one of the crypto tokens created as a ‘meme’ coin, considered the “Dogecoin killer”.

In February 2022, its value increased by 50% in just 24 hours, amid the general recovery of cryptocurrencies.

The decentralized virtual world of Shiba Inu will follow the example of many metavers with similar concepts, which are becoming increasingly popular.

In October 2021, Facebook announced their plans to create a Internet “metaverse” next generationalong with the announcement, they will change their name to Meta, causing the value of the cryptocurrency to skyrocket.

What is ‘Shiberse’?

Shiberse will be an immersive virtual universe where users can interact, shop for virtual property and land, and participate in virtual events.

The developers of Shiba Inu first announced their plans for the new metaverse in a blog post in November, saying that Shiberse will be an immersive experience with modern graphics.

It has been speculated that Shiberse will follow the example of other metaverses such as Decentraland, Sandbox and Axie Infinitywhere users can buy land and virtual assets in the form of non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

Shiba developer Eric M described it as “a place where our community, tokens, games, ShibaSwap and more will come together.”

What other metaverses are there?

There are already many metaverses out there, with metaverse game play for money promises a fair chance for their players to make a profit in real life.

Tech giant Meta (formerly Facebook) has its own metaverse, which can be accessed via Oculus virtual reality headset.

Players create avatars that look like themselves and can interact with other players – including physical movement and voice.

Retail giant Walmart is also planning to get into the supermarket, as documents reveal the company’s plans to create its own cryptocurrency and NFT.

Nike has partnered with Roblox to create a virtual world called Nikeland.

“Other supermarkets are being built by people like Facebook, Walmart, etc, so we’re playing with the big boys,” said Shiba Inu developer Eric M. Is Shiba Inu launching a metaverse?
