iPhone silicone cases to be discontinued

Apple may also be planning to remove silicone materials from its iPhone case lineup.

There are persistent rumors that Apple is ditching leather materials in its products, and it appears that the same will be the case with its silicone counterparts. A leaker named “Kosutami” mentioned that Apple plans to replace silicone with more environmentally friendly materials, which could potentially impact Apple’s product ecosystem, including the AirTag Loop, Solo Loop, and Sport Band for the Apple Watch, and iPhone -cases.

Kosutami doesn’t expect the transition from silicone to leather to happen quickly, but expects it to be more of a gradual transition over the next few years. It could be that Apple will not release new silicone cases, but will replace them with newer versions.

Apple made its iPhone from recycled aluminum. The next iPhone series is expected to launch soon.
