Inter’s Serie A title dream is in shambles as Ionut Radu Heuler gives Bologna a last-minute win while AC Milan lead the Scudetto race

INTER MAILAND’s hopes of winning back-to-back Serie A titles have been dashed after a shock defeat at the hands of Bologna.

A howl from second-choice goalkeeper Ionut Radu saw Inter hand the fate of the title to bitter rivals AC Milan.

A goal from Ivan Perisic just three minutes into the start of the trip to Bologna on Wednesday night had seemingly put Simone Inzaghi’s side on the road to victory and the top spot in Serie A.

However, Bologna struck back through ex-Stoke City and West Ham man Marko Arnautovic before Radu’s error handed the hosts a 2-1 win.

With first-choice goalkeeper Samir Handanovic benched for the first time this season in the league, Radu had a chance to impress.

But the 24-year-old Romanian stopper did exactly the opposite – and dropped an absolute banger.

Ten minutes before the end, the ball was in Inter’s half, Stefan de Vrij let a harmless throw-in from Perisic trickle down Radu’s path.

And when the keeper tried to swipe the ball out to Danilo D’Ambrosio, Radu only managed a wide-angle kick.

He missed the ball completely, allowing Bologna striker Nicola Sansone to steal and thrust home to give the hosts a winner.

The shocked Inter stars couldn’t believe what they had just witnessed as the incredulous De Vrij and Roberto Gagliardini clapped hands desperately after the mistake.

The Nerazzurri were unable to force an equalizer in the remaining ten minutes of the clash and lost only their fourth league run of the season.

Radu – whose mistake days earlier mirrored that of Italian legend Gianluigi Buffon – had to be comforted by Inter backroom staff as he trudged back into the dressing room with his face in his shirt after full-time.

While the goal didn’t mean much for 13th-place Bologna, it potentially had a huge impact at the top of Serie A.

Inter’s defeat means they missed an opportunity to take the top spot and are now two points behind leaders and closest rivals AC Milan with just four games left in the season.
