COUNTRY singer Toby Keith announced on June 12 that he has been diagnosed with stomach cancer and has undergone surgery, radiation and chemotherapy.
Now that he has revealed his diagnosis, fans are suspecting his tour will be cancelled.
Toby has been busy since his cancer diagnosis.
In a statement the 60-year-old shared on his social media, the country music singer opened up to fans about what he’s been going through.
“I was diagnosed with stomach cancer last fall. I’ve spent the last six months receiving chemotherapy, radiation and surgery,” he began the post.
“So far so good. I need time to breathe, rest and relax.”
“I’m looking forward to spending this time with my family, but I’ll be seeing the fans sooner than later. I can barely wait for it. -T,” he finished the explanation.
According to his official website, the country crooner is scheduled to play two concerts in Illinois and Michigan next week, with more planned for the summer.
Toby recently performed at Daytona International Speedway over Memorial Day weekend.
He released his latest album, Peso in my Pocket, last year after taking time off touring during the pandemic.
It’s unclear how serious his case is, but the country music singer is optimistic.
Following the revelation of his diagnosis, many of his upcoming tour dates have been canceled or postponed.
The Ohio State Fair confirmed that his scheduled July 28 concert has been canceled and ticket holders will receive a refund.

His Country Comes to Town tour was scheduled to kick off this Friday in Illinois.
Although it hasn’t been said publicly, Toby’s publicist told USA Today that he won’t be playing any upcoming shows “for now.”
Many of his friends and country stars took to social media to extend their congratulations, including Big & Rich’s John Rich and singer Sammy Hagar.
Even before his diagnosis, Toby was involved in cancer research.
In 2006 he founded the Toby Keith Foundation in Oklahoma to help children with cancer.
He expanded the foundation in 2014 to include OK Kids Korral, which provides housing for pediatric cancer patients and their families while they are being treated.
Just weeks before his own diagnosis, the Toby Keith & Friends Golf Classic raised nearly $1.4 million for the pediatric foundation.
Despite not feeling well about his cancer diagnosis, Toby stayed active and kept working.
Aside from releasing his album last year and continuing to tour after the pandemic set him back, the Red Solo Cup singer has accomplished a few other things.
In 2021, he received the National Medal of Arts from former President Donald Trump, which the National Endowment for the Arts describes as “the highest honor bestowed by the United States government upon artists and arts patrons.”
Also that year, Toby was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame.
He was previously inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2015.
In April, Toby inducted his friend and former baseball pitcher Roger Clemens into the Houston Sports Hall of Fame.
He has been primarily focused on touring for the past six months and is now stepping down to focus on his health.
Toby doesn’t have to face his cancer diagnosis alone.
In addition to friends, fans and other country singers, he also has the support of his family.
Toby married Tricia Lucas in 1984.
Together they have three children – Shelley Rowland, born in 1984 and adopted by Toby in 1984, Krystal, born September 1985, and Stelen, born in 1997.
The country singer also has four grandchildren.
STOMACH CANCER: WHAT TO KNOW
Stomach cancer, like most forms of the disease, can be fatal if left untreated and caught early.
If the disease hasn’t spread outside of the stomach, the five-year survival rate is 70 percent, according to the American Cancer Society.
However, if the disease has spread to surrounding tissues or organs, the five-year survival rate drops to 32 percent.
The early signs of stomach cancer are difficult to spot because there are rarely any symptoms.
However, according to the ACS, some signs to look out for include weight loss without trying, feeling bloated after eating even a small amount of food, swelling or fluid buildup in the abdomen, loss of appetite, nausea, and heartburn.
Toby has released 19 studio albums which have collectively sold over 40 million albums worldwide.
He is best known for his songs Red Solo Cup, Should’ve Been a Cowboy and Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue.
