HEAD inside the International Space Station, where astronauts must train for at least two hours a day to prevent bone loss and drink their own recycled urine.
To get to space, astronauts must have a number of qualifications and physical requirements – but it turns out that it doesn’t stop at just being on earth.

Astronauts on the ISS work an average of about two hours a day to minimize muscle loss, but the equipment on the ISS is different.
Although lifting a 200-pound object is quite difficult due to the force of gravity, it is much easier to lift the same mass.
It also proves that astronauts are hard-pressed to exercise properly because of microgravity, which means special equipment must be built in order for astronauts to better mitigate their muscle loss.
WHAT DRINK TO THE PROBLEM?
Only so much water can be brought to the ISS, which means that every liquid, from urine to sweat, must be saved and turned into water.
“When it comes to our urine… today’s coffee is tomorrow’s coffee!” NASA astronaut Jessica Meir said in a Press Release.
NASA spent $23 million on a space toilet that uses strong acids to treat astronauts’ urine to make it clean.
The toilet was launched off the coast of Virginia in early October on a rocket headed for the ISS that could help astronauts stock up on water.
However, because strong acids are used in toilets, only certain metals can withstand them over time.
And although titanium is one of those metals, it’s quite expensive, so NASA used 3D printing to make titanium parts lighter than usual.
Aerospace engineer Jim Fuller joked: “when astronauts have to go, we want to allow them to go boldly”.
However, this is not the first time astronauts have drunk their urine.
They have been consuming drinks on the ISS since 2009, but this toilet makes it much more efficient and comfortable.
FUTURE TECHNOLOGY IN ORBIT
The Moon may soon be connected to WiFi to help solve connectivity problems on Earth, NASA said.
A new study from the space agency shows the potential for building Wi-Fi networks on the Moon.
The move could help serve areas in the US where Internet access is hard to come by.
In a press release, the director of technology incubation and innovation at the Glenn Research Center Mary Lobo said the idea would solve “a growing social problem”.
The NASA statement indicated that the lack of adequate access to the Internet is a socioeconomic concern that has only been made worse by the pandemic.
High speed communication is required between astronauts and many other elements such as Gateway, rover, lander, etc.
“This lunar Wi-Fi framework is still conceptual,” reads the statement from NASA.
“But the team hopes the Wi-Fi research will help inform future Artemis plans.
TRIP TO VENUS
NASA will return to Venus on two new missions aims to find out how Earth’s nearest neighbor became the hot world it is today.
In an effort to determine if the planet was ever habitable, one mission will analyze the atmosphere, while the other will map out the surface of Venus.
NASA’s new administrator, Bill Nelson, announced two new robotic missions to Venus in his first keynote address to employees on Wednesday.
“These two sister missions are both aimed at understanding how Venus became a hell-like world capable of melting lead on the surface,” said Nelson.
Only two NASA missions in history have visited Venus – Pioneer in 1978 and Magellan in 1989.
This planet may have been the first habitable planet in the solar system, with oceans and climates similar to Earth’s, before it became the fiery world it is today.
“It’s amazing how little we know about Venus, but the combined results of these missions will tell us about the planet from the clouds in its sky through the volcanoes on its surface. its face down to its core,” Tom Wagner, NASA. Scientist of the Discovery Program, said.
“It would be as if we had rediscovered the planet.”
HOW CAN I JOIN IT
While not everyone dreams of becoming an astronaut as a child, there may still be opportunities for them to work for the space organization.
NASA will test anti-asteroid technology on a new missionand now you can test your space know-how and take a quiz to participate in the mission.
The mission is called the DART or Double Asteroid Redirection Test, and its comet and asteroid deflection technology could launch as early as November 23.

Passing the test rewards users with a digital certificate and badge to share on social media.
This technology could be useful if an asteroid or other object threatens the planet.
