Indian Playing XI from Ravichandran Ashwin’s Last ODI: Where Are They?

Ravichandran Ashwin has returned to ODI India for the XI for the first time since June 30, 2017. The right-hander is currently playing against South Africa at Boland Park in Paarl.
Many cricket fans may not remember Ashwin being in three matches in his previous ODI appearance for India. Competing against the West Indies, the off-spinner player defeated Ashley Nurse, Jason Holder and Miguel Cummins.
However, he did not receive an ODI after that to this day. Now that Ashwin is back on the ODI team after more than four years, let’s take a look at India’s ODI playing the XI from that game and where the 11 players are now.
Moderators – Ajinkya Rahane and Shikhar Dhawan
Ajinkya Rahane opened the half against Shikhar Dhawan for India in that game. Rahane scored 72 runs, while Dhawan got just two.
Rahane is no longer a member of the ODI India team. He played his last ODI in 2018, while Dhawan remains an active member of the India team and is playing in the ongoing ODI against South Africa.
Middle Command – Virat Kohli (c), Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni (week)
Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni became the core of the Indian team in that match. Kohli scored 11 runs, while Yuvraj combined 39 runs. MS Dhoni is the top scorer for the team with a 78* unbeaten record.
Kohli is a regular member of Team India, but he is no longer the captain. Yuvraj and Dhoni have retired, but they still play in the T20s.
All Rounders – Kedar Jadhav and Hardik Pandya
Hardik Pandya didn’t get a chance to catch the ball in that game, but he did score two goals in six passes. Kedar Jadhav hit 26 40*balls and also missed the only ball he played against the West Indies that day.
Neither of the almighty players are on the current ODI roster. While Pandya has taken a break from international cricket to get fit, Jadhav has been ruled out after a series of away games against New Zealand in 2020.
Throwers – Ravichandran Ashwin, Kuldeep Yadav, Umesh Yadav and Bhuvneshwar Kumar
India played that game with two cameras and multiple rhythm machines. Ravichandran Ashwin and Kuldeep Yadav each have three racquets in the spinning department. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Umesh Yadav led the speed attack, but only Yadav succeeded in taking down, it was Evin Lewis’.
Ashwin and Kumar are part of the Indian team in the ongoing ODI series against South Africa. Kuldeep is currently recovering from an injury at the NCA, while Yadav is currently just a regular member of the Test team.
