IND vs WI 2022: Saba Karim as Rohit Sharma’s captain in ODI . series

Saba Karim insisted that he wanted to see how Rohit Sharma lead Team India in the ODI series against West Indies as a lot of the chances will go to captain India.

Rohit replaced Virat kohli as the full-time border crossing captain of the Indian team. This will be his first time becoming the Men In Blue cricket team captain in the ODI after taking on the responsibility.

During a discussion on India News, Saba Karim was asked how he sees Rohit Sharma using his resources. He responded:

“It will be interesting to see how Rohit Sharma leads the Indian team. There is a huge responsibility for him. The way he leads the Mumbai Indians, it seems that he is a player and captain. calm and he seems like a “captain” player.

The former Indian track and field athlete believes Rohit’s calm and collected approach will benefit the Indian team. Karim explains:

“If you [Rohit] having to give his opinion, he does so in a very different way. I feel the security in the team increases because of that and once the players trust that the captain agrees with what they are saying, he is satisfied with their approach, I feel they can freely due to performance. “

Saba Karim also believes that the series against the Windies can determine the future direction of Team India in whiteball cricket. He further explained:

“I feel this series will determine India’s mindset towards whiteball cricket, whether a change in approach will happen and if so, what kind of change. This is a phase. forward and this series will determine the direction of Rohit Sharma and Team India are heading towards white ball cricket.”

Quite a few cricket experts think that Team India should adopt a more aggressive approach in their batting in ODI cricket. It will be interesting if there is a drastic change in the mindset of the Indian team with Rohit at the helm.

Reetinder Singh Sodhi added that Team India may have to change some of their original plans for the series. He reasoned:

“Rohit Sharma will have to reset a lot of things because when the team was selected, the plan was different. Now without the players, the plan will be different. But we hope that with our bench strength, the boys will get together and defeat the West Indies with ease.”

Shikhar Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer was among four Indian players who tested positive for COVID-19 prior to the series. The duo could have been on Team India’s first XI and alternative plans may have to be made accordingly.
