IND vs SA 2021 | Or he gives up driving and goes out: Salman Butt on how Virat Kohli can get past the patch

Before Pakistan Paste Salman Butt suggested that Indian Test captain Virat kohli needed to start with a specific method to rediscover his batting form. According to Butt, Kohli could either stop playing the expansion games for a while, or could continue to attack and find a way out of trouble.

While India crowned a historic victory in Centurion, Kohli struggled, scoring 35 and 18 respectively in two innings. For the second year in a row, he failed to score 100 internationally. Notably, like in the UK, he was fired while hanging around outside a tree stump.

Butt agrees that some technical problems seem to have crept into Kohli’s game. Speaking on his YouTube channel, he said that the India Test captain will decide which method he wants to use to get back in shape.

The former cricketer explained:

“There are only two ways Kohli can get out of this terrible patch. Either he gives up driving altogether for a while and relies on other hits or he goes all out and tries to hit his way out of trouble. If he wants to play a long inning, he’s going to have to be very focused not to hit the ball over the stump. If he does that, things can start to flow again. But it all depends on how he wants to perform.”

During the interaction, Butt also discussed the scenario of Rohit Sharma returning to the Test team, considering that both KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal did a good job of opening the game.

Butt suggested:

“When Rohit returns to the Test team, either KL or Mayank can be reduced to three. That would make the best XI in my opinion. Hanuma Vihari was there, he did a great job too. It was a dressing room full of people with full identification to play. A good headache must have. ”

Great to start the series on a positive note. 🙌🏽

In addition to Rohit, Rahul and Mayank, young Shubman Gill, who is currently injured, has also completed the task of opening tests for India in a short career.

“Winning without a star player shows India’s backup power” – Salman Butt

India registered an unbelievable win at Gabba at the start of the year and ended 2021 with another fortress-destroying victory at Centurion. Finding a link between the two, Butt says the wins point to India’s impressive bench strength. The 37-year-old man concluded:

“Kohli was not in Australia (except for Adelaide) when India won. Rohit is missing in this series and India won here (in Centurion). Winning without the star players shows the strength and backup plan of India as well as how good the upcoming players are. ”

India will kick off the New Year hoping to register their first Test series winner in South Africa. The second test of a three-match series begins in Johannesburg on January 3. IND vs SA 2021 | Or he gives up driving and goes out: Salman Butt on how Virat Kohli can get past the patch
