IND vs SA 2021: Imran Tahir shares his experience with Shardul Thakur at Chennai Super Kings

Imran Tahir revealed that Shardul Thakur used to take his batting very seriously when he played for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and even got angry when he wasn’t given enough time in the net.

Thakur played a surprise knockout with 28 runs in India’s second half in the ongoing Second Test against South Africa. The hit helped Team India out of trouble and helped them set a pretty good 4th half goal for Proteas.

During a discussion on Star Sports, Imran Tahir talked about the time he spent with Shardul Thakur during his time with CSK. He say:

“He’s very proud of his batting. He takes his batting very seriously. I play with him because of Chennai and he has practiced a lot of batting. Once or twice, he got angry when he hit the ball. not hitting enough in the net.”

The former South African track and field athlete also emphasized the importance of Shardul Thakur’s hit on Day 3 of the Johannesburg Test. Tahir explains:

“It shows that he is very interested in his hitting the ball. He made very important runs in yesterday’s game. Those are very important runs. This match will go like this. Like, you’ll see the value of those runs and I believe that’s the positive way. He played, it was his natural game and he got his reward for that too.”

Out 28 out of 24. And another hit with memorable hits from Shardul Thakur. Indeed a guy.#SAvIND

Thakur has played a number of key hits for Team India in his brief Test career to date. His 67th goal against Australia at Gabba and a fifty-two double in the Oval Test against England helped India win both of those games.

Gautam Gambhir points out that Shardul Thakur needs to make regular contributions to Batman. He reasoned:

“Excellent contribution and therefore only Shardul Thakur is in the line-up. If you’re playing in 8th place you’ll want to hit it with both club and ball. The shots he plays are like. a proper hitter.”

The former Indian cricketer concluded by saying that Shardul Thakur was the special one in the Johannesburg Test so far. Gambhir explains:

“First, he won 7 batting and then 28 important runs. It was a very good achievement when he bowled in front of Aiden Markram and he also got the reward. So anyhow. Whatever performance he’s given up until now, it’s all very special.”

Thakur is the only Indian seafarer to have caught a stick in South Africa’s second round to date. The 30-year-old will be hoping to prolong his dream streak and beat India to a series win at Wanderers.
