The burnt orange model in Burntwood, Staffordshire is up for grabs at Car & Classic.
Her description reads: “Here is a stunning MK1 Escort Mexico for sale.
“It has been fully but bolted restored with lots of pictures and the story to go with it.”
The special Escort is well known in enthusiast circles and was the star of a four-page issue of Classic Ford Magazine back in 2015.
One of the Escort’s most memorable early competitive victories was Hannu Mikkola’s victory in the 1970 World Rally Championship from London to Mexico.
And to capitalize on its rallying success, Ford created the AVO-built limited edition Escort Mexico just in time for the 1971 season.
The Escort Mexico is powered by a 1.6-litre petrol engine with 86 hp – not much by today’s standards, but loud in a car this light in 1975.
After its debut at the 1968 Brussels Salon, only around 10,000 Mk1 Ford Escorts were built.
This comes after a stunning parade of classic Italian cars were sold at auction – the total price is expected to reach a hefty £1million.
A rare 70-year-old ‘Shooting Brake’ luxury car has also been put up for sale with an estimated value of £40,000.
