In the luxurious Disneyland prison with GARDEN course, where Ghislaine Maxwell’s lawyer asked for her sentence

GHISLAINE Maxwell’s lawyer has asked that the disgraced socialite serve out her 20-year sentence in a deluxe prison akin to Disneyland.

The twisted 60-year-old showed no emotion as she was jailed for two decades today after apologizing to her victims.

The disgraced Maxwell lured vulnerable teenagers into abusing his various luxurious properties for the vile multimillionaire Epstein – with the pair being dubbed “partners in crime”.

In delivering the verdict, Judge Alison Nathan said Maxwell’s victims were forced to live through the “painful, horrifying and enduring effects of this trauma.”

She continued, “The damage done to these girls was incalculable.

“Those who engage in and encourage sexual abuse will be held accountable by law. Whether you are rich or powerful, no one is above the law.”

Judge Nathan also fined the heiress $750,000 (£615,000) and said her sentence would be followed by five years of supervised release.

Maxwell’s attorney, Bobbi Sternheim, has requested that Maxwell be sent to the low-security FCI Danbury in Connecticut after months of holed up in Brooklyn’s notorious Metropolitan Detention Center — considered one of America’s toughest prisons.

The plush prison would give Maxwell more freedom with a running track, library and even a gardening class

Here, Piper Kerman, author of Orange Is the New Black: My Year in a Women’s Prison, on which the hit Netflix series is based, has served 13 months for money laundering.

The prison, which houses 1,049 male and female inmates, offers a range of convenient programs for inmates, including vocational training in culinary arts and horticulture, as well as apprenticeships in baking, carpentry, animal training and painting.

Prisoners can also train to become dental assistants, office clerks, and plumbers.

Experts say Epstein’s ex-lover will feel like she’s in “Disneyland” when she’s locked up in a federal prison.

Expert Justin Paperny previously told The Times that Maxwell experienced “truly the worst that prison has to offer” during his incarceration in “arguably America’s worst correctional facility.”

Leading up to her trial, Maxwell’s attorneys repeatedly tried—and unsuccessfully—to convince the judge to release her on bail, complaining that she was suffering a “living hell.”

Speaking sensationally from her “pathetic, dank” prison cell, she claimed “creepy” guards watched her use the bathroom and that her only company was the rats near the open sewer.

Her lawyers even argued that her prison conditions were only suitable for fictional serial killer Hannibal Lecter, saying her continued incarceration was “unsustainable and unreasonable.”

It comes as…

Maxwell also moaned that the prison computers were “too slow,” while in another bizarre wail she revealed that she “played peekaboo” with prison guards and had an imaginary boyfriend.

She also complained that she was “weak” and “frail” due to subpar dining options provided by the US government.

It comes as Maxwell was today sentenced to 20 years in prison for decades of abuse after grooming dozens of girls for twisted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

The 60-year-old lured vulnerable teenagers into abusing them at his various luxurious properties for the vile multimillionaire Epstein – with the couple being dubbed “partners in crime”.

Wearing a prison uniform, Maxwell apologized to her victims and said she hoped her conviction would bring them “peace and finality.”

She said the court hearing with Epstein was her “biggest regret”.

Maxwell said: “It is difficult for me to address the court after listening to the pain and anxiety expressed in the statements made here today.

“I believe that Jeffrey Epstein was a manipulative, cunning and controlling man who lived a deeply insular life and deceived everyone around him.”

She said the pedophile “should have gotten here before you did,” admitting, “Today isn’t about Epstein. It’s about my being ultimately judged.”

Referring to her victims, Maxwell added: “I’m sorry for the pain you’ve experienced.

“I hope my conviction and harsh imprisonment brings you closure, peace and finality.”

Maxwell said knowing the ramifications of their crimes “torments me every day.”

Annie Farmer said Maxwell’s last-ditch effort to apologize to her victims sounded “hollow” but the victims were “happy” with the verdict.

She told reporters outside the court: “Her testimony is like a very hollow apology for me and she has not accepted any responsibility for the crimes she committed.

“It felt like once again she was trying to do something to help her and not care at all about the damage she had done.”
