I’m the most covered tattoo fan in the world – people say I’m crazy but I’m getting my whole body done for the third time

DESPITE his critics, a man who’s been crowned “the world’s most completely covered tattoo fan” believes he has room for more ink.

Alberto Rodriguez Varela Grandal, from Tenerife, Spain, has already spent £35,000 to cover his body twice and is expected to receive a third revision.

The security guard got his first tattoo when he was 22 but couldn’t relate to a specific style.

He continued to experiment until he came closest to identifying himself with a full sleeve of black ink, which he multiplied over the years.

But his body art — known as blackout tattoos — has led people to dub him “insane.”

However, Alberto said he was not influenced by the opinions of others.

He said: “A lot of people see me and think I’m crazy.

“But I’m a much more mature and rational person in every way since I got my tattoos.

“I feel like the same person before and after the trial.

“Having these tattoos is a good filter at the end of the day to find out which people are open-minded and tolerant.”

Alberto’s ink has sparked mixed feelings across his social media and on the street – but he stands by his choices.

He said: “I have a lot of people who love what I do and a lot of others who offend behind a screen.

“But that’s nothing new – people hate what they don’t understand.

“It’s just that I was raised in a different way and I respect other people’s lives.

“In fact, I think my tattoos have calmed me down more than ever.”

After his first round of body art, Alberto never thought he would progress to blackout tattooing.

He said: “I got my first tattoo at the age of 22 just for the aesthetics.

“When I got a steady job, I started getting tattoos on my body.

“But I never had the idea of training my whole body until I got older as I got older.

“That’s when I started looking for a style that suited me better and came across blackout tattoos.

“But I understand that blackout is a transgressive style and most people don’t like it.”

Although his body was twice covered in ink, Alberto believed there was still room for more.

He said: “I’ve spent over £35,000 on my tattoos.

“I have tattooed my whole body twice and am going through the third revision.

“My partner, Amber, also loves tattoos, so we get along really well and make a great couple.”
