GERWYN PRICE wants to concentrate fully on darts in the new year and put his growing real estate empire on hold.

The 37-year-old Welshman may top the world rankings but has just one major title on his resume after a disappointing 2022 season.

But the process of working in bricks and mortar is very time-consuming and mentally demanding – and he wants to devote himself to his sporting ambitions.

Price, the 2021 world champion, said: “I’m building my own property which I hope to be able to finish by February or March, but I’m not doing anything after that.

“I might invest in finished properties, but other than that I don’t do anything else.

“I’m going to take a year off and focus 100% on darts.

“I’m not sure if that’s going to be good or bad, because I’ve always had other interests to keep me busy.

“Maybe I’ll start in golf, but I want to live stress-free for a year and not worry about things at home where I need certain things in the right place.

“I like doing it, but sometimes trying to keep everything in order can be a distraction.

“I would bring in Maurer as I knew the electrical and wiring needed to be fixed first, ready for someone to come in and plaster and plaster. The logistics can be time consuming.

“The house I’m building only has four bedrooms, but it’s a nice size with a decent open plan space downstairs and a darts practice room.”
