I’m an Old Navy superfan – but I was let down by the massive changes to plus size clothing sections

OLD Navy recently said 75 of its stores are no longer offering plus-size options for women, but this superfan claimed the change is much more significant.

The woman took to TikTok to show a list she’d created of stores that are no longer offering plus-size options – she said it’s well over 75.

A relatively small number of stores have discontinued “extended sizes,” according to a statement on their website.

Gap Inc said 75 stores in the US and 15 stores in Canada no longer have the in-store options.

“Planning an Old Navy run? The store locator on oldnavy.com lists which carry extended sizes (still the majority of stores, over 90 percent),” the statement said.

TikTok user @mightymurphinfash looked at this change and didn’t like what she found.

The content creator whose bio on TikTok says “Fat. autistic Lipedema. Mom,” posted a video of her research that has now well over 500,000 views.

“I may have done something bad,” the user said before sharing her findings.

She said if you search Old Navy locations you can see if they offer extended sizes or not.

Some stores have “SHOP WOMAN’S PLUS HERE!” under the name, while others are simply blank.

“I made an Excel spreadsheet and go through each state,” she said.

“And you can see there are a good number who don’t wear plus sizes.”

“I’ve only been through six states so far, but there are 100 in total that don’t wear plus sizes,” Mighty Murph claimed.

She later wrote in the comments that after going through 18 states, she increased the number to 300 locations.

Other TikTok users also seem to have been burned by the lack of extended sizes at Old Navy locations.

Mary Fran posted a video explaining that she couldn’t find a “one size larger than size XXL” in the store.

“I’m embarrassed because they’re not my size anymore,” Fran said after mentioning Old Navy’s inclusion campaign.

Fran later said in the video that a staff member told her some of the extended sizes were kept in the back.

User Mighty Murph created a petition for Old Navy to bring expanded sizes back to all of their locations.

In its statement, Gap Inc added that its stores are “constantly optimizing their inventory to best serve local customers.”

“Friendly reminder, oldnavy.com has the most size and style options for you and the family – so check there when in doubt.”

Gap Inc also added that if customers had to order a larger size because their local store doesn’t stock it, they would waive the shipping cost.

The Sun contacted Old Navy about the incident, but the company did not immediately respond.
