I’m an NFL player and I have a very different summer job to prepare for after football is over

TEN-YEAR-OLD NFL veteran Brandon Copeland has a plan for ending his football career.
Before beginning his NFL career as an undrafted free agent in 2013, Copeland earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Pennsylvania’s prestigious Wharton School of Business.

Born in Sykesville, Maryland, Copeland was the football captain of the 2012 Ivy League championship team.
During his studies he did an internship at UBS for two summers.
Copeland was also associated with George Weiss, who now owns Weiss Multi-Strategy Advisers, an investment management firm.
Weiss is also a benefactor of University of Pennslyvania football.

Copeland went undrafted in 2013 and didn’t play a single NFL snap in his first two years in the league after being signed and cut by the Baltimore Ravens and Tennessee Titans.
After the 2014 season, he went to New York and shadowed Weiss.
If it didn’t work out for Copeland in professional football, it was possible that he would eventually work at UBS or Weiss Multi-Strategy Advisers.
Then in 2015, Copeland competed in the NFL Veterans Combine, which led to him signing a one-year contract with the Detroit Lions.

He played in 16 games and totaled 14 tackles and a half sack during the season.
After a second straight 16-game season in 2016, Copeland accepted an offseason position at Weiss as a spring analyst in March 2017.
Unfortunately, Copeland suffered a lacerated chest injury during a 2017 preseason game and was ruled out for the season.
The New York Jets signed him in 2018 and he played there for the next two seasons, nabbing 77 total tackles and 6.5 sacks in 13 starts and 28 games.
Copeland has signed one-year contracts with the New England Patriots, Atlanta Falcons, and Ravens between the 2020 and 2022 seasons.
According to OverTheCap, the 31-year-old has $6,724,382 million in NFL contract earnings.
And the corporate industry is still in Copeland’s DNA.
He has now built a financial group called Copeland Media, where he is CEO and head of the company’s financial advisory firm called Cascade Advisory Group.
Investing and saving is Copeland’s forte.
In an interview with ESPN in 2017, Copeland said, “I literally hoarded money. I’m stacking, stacking, stacking, literally. Anything I can get into an account and just leave behind, I’ve reached a point where I’ve had enough, where by the time football is over today I’ll have more than enough to sustain me for a while.
Copeland has been teaching a Financial Literacy course at his alma mater since 2021.

He played in three games for the Ravens in 2022.
Copeland, 31, is an NFL free agent and has been playing in the league for a decade.
