I’m an NFL first-round draft pick this year – I’ve played Madden my whole life and it proved me right

JAHMYR Gibbs is ready to take the NFL by storm – having honed his skills at EA Sports’ Madden.
The 21-year-old Detroit Lions rookie was selected 12th in this year’s NFL draft.
Gibbs is an explosive double threat running back gifted with speed, power and athleticism.
In college, he played for the Alabama Crimson Tide and finished the 2022 season on 151 carries for 926 rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns.
And the talented Georgia native has been causing quite a stir at the Lions’ summer training camp.
A menace in both the air and the ground, Gibbs believes his football intelligence was honed at an early age by the popular video game Madden.

Asked by Brad Galli from WXYZ-TV Where his football “spirit” comes from, Gibbs replied: “[From] a lot [of places]. Most of it is Madden.
“Madden got me right from a young age. I’ve been playing it for a while.”
“Of course, my trainers did a good job for me too! But most of it is Madden.”
While Gibbs explained how playing the NFL helped him build his football intelligence.
He continued: “[Learning to] Read simple coverage, cover 2, cover 3, etc.
“I like playing defense at Madden, so I have a complete playbook from there.”
Lions fans have been beyond ecstatic at the welcome of their new star – and can’t wait for him to make his debut in the Detroit jersey.
One fan responded to the interview: “Jahmyr is gonna kill it this year.”
While another said: “He’s such an amazing young man. I don’t think he’s overbearing.”
While a third added: “Humble and ready to ruin this league.”
