I’m an expert mechanic with 55 years experience – you should NEVER buy an EV second hand for key reason
A seasoned auto mechanic has discovered that there’s one important reason you should never buy a used EV.
Scotty Kilmer, on his popular YouTube channel, advised never to buy a used electric car at auction.

He said: “Electric car repairs are so expensive.
“If it’s an auction, there’s probably a serious problem.
“If the battery dies… phew, they’re expensive, they cost a fortune.
“Now you can get a refurbished model from a manufacturer for a few thousand euros or something like that.
“But they’re just repaired old batteries… and if it’s 12 years old and has been refurbished, it can last a year.
“It’s not going to be full power and you might only get 50-60 percent.
“So unless you want to make a toy out of it, I’d run away from that thing.”
“I would never buy an electric car at auction.”
He added that at an auction you can’t hire an expert to check everything to make sure everything is working properly.
Scotty advised it’s best to “stay away.”
