There’s nothing wrong with enjoying the foods you love and a healthy and balanced diet that includes a little bit of what you love.
But some people struggle with their bodies more than others, and women who have just given birth often feel pressured to lose weight quickly to get back in shape.
While it’s important for you to do what’s right for you, one expert has said there’s a way to get rid of that ‘heap’ that many people may find themselves carrying.
Posted on Instagram, fitness trainer Lydia Rees, who specializes in fitness for moms, says ‘how to lose fat’ is a question she gets asked time and time again.
“It’s a combination of reducing your body fat percentage with a calorie deficit, but you also need to target your center of gravity with the right exercises,” she explains.
“To heal your belly after childbirth, you need to build a strong foundation.
“You need consistency and focus on the deepest layer of the abs, the transverse muscles.
“Strengthening them will also help flatten your belly,” she says.
Lydia, who has ‘Restore your core‘the program helps support women throughout pregnancy and beyond, revealing exercises you can do.
It is important to note that a healthy balanced diet includes eating well and exercising regularly.
By doing these three exercises, Lydia says you can help ‘flatten your mummy belly’.
1. Dead bug
To perform this exercise, you need to lie flat on the floor, using a mat that can help you feel more comfortable.
Lydia says the key to these exercises is to make sure you do them all in a slow, controlled manner — this will help strengthen your core.
To make the fatal error, Lydia says you need to make sure your core is engaged, and to do this you have to almost strain your abs, as if you were expecting an impact force.
“Make sure there’s a minimum gap between your lower back and the floor,” she adds.
Then raise your knees so that they are at a 90-degree angle and also raise your arms in front of you.
Then, slowly extend one leg to the floor, and at the same time bring the opposite arm down behind you and alternate.
2. Sit huddled up
The next exercise is a crunch exercise.
Again for this you need to sit on the floor.
Sit on top of you and bend your knees and make sure that your hands are out in front of you, you can intertwine them to help with balance.
Then, make sure you sit up slowly and with controlled kicks – you should feel your abs tightening.
3. Foot faucet
To do this exercise, return to the starting position for the dead bug.
Then you almost want to imagine stretching your belly, says Lydia, so that it feels comfortable and full.
Then alternately tap each foot on the floor.
Lydia says you should do three sets of each exercise and fifteen reps of each exercise.
While a flat stomach includes a healthy diet and exercise, experts have previously said that there are a number of exercises that are specifically targeted at your core.
It’s a exercises like Russian twists, lift the hanging legs and the hollow stand.
