I’m a washing machine expert, you should NEVER use a quick setting for some loads

Laundry day can be a nightmare.
With so many different settings and instructions, it can be difficult to get everything right every time.

When you have a lot of laundry to do, it can be tempting to stuff it all in and hope for the best.
You can probably get away with it as long as you don’t throw a red shirt with your white.
But this store in Ramsey, Cambridgeshire, recently shared a TikTok revealing the one massive mistake people always make.
According to the washing machine pro, it’s important never to use the fast setting for some loads.
The quick setting can be a great option, especially when you’re in a hurry and have a lot of laundry to get through.
But with heavy loads like towels, the quick adjustment can do more harm than good.
With things like towels, they get very heavy when wet, so a quick 28-minute cycle just isn’t enough to separate the fabric and clean them properly.
Not only that, but the weight of the towels can also damage your expensive machine over time.
“If it goes really fast, when those towels clump together, it’s going to put a lot of strain on the drum and start shaking,” the pro said.
If you’re in a hurry, opt for a cotton setting on your machine, which typically takes around two and a half hours.
Then press the speed setting to bring the time down to about an hour and a half.
This gives the machine enough time to clean everything properly without putting extra pressure on it.
Viewers love the simple advice: “This could be why I’ve had five washing machine deaths in the last 10 years.”
A second added: “I never use a quick wash! the cleaning agent needs time to dissolve and work properly.”
And a third said: “My washing machine builder explained that to me! Should actually be in the instructions.”
