You might think your home is “pet-safe,” but one vet has warned about four common household items that can be dangerous to cats.
dr Savageau revealed that you may not even have considered the items as a threat to your cat.
On the @thevets_official accountShe wrote: “Cat owners beware!
“Beware of these hidden dangers in your home.”
The first thing to consider is drugs like Tylenol, which contain acetaminophen.
dr Savageau explained, “Tylenol is very toxic to cats and can kill them quickly, even if they just lick it off or bite into a gelcap.”
Next above was “antifreeze”.
The vet continued, “It is sweet to the animals, attracts them, and is very deadly.”
The third item on the list was “cord, ribbon, sewing needles and thread”.
She said, “Cats love to play with them and they can cause foreign object obstruction.”
The final point to note is “flea remedies”.
dr Savageau said: “Flea drugs that are designed for that dogs are very toxic only to cats.”
This comes as another vet warned about the most common household products that could seriously harm people pets.
Experts say it’s important for Britons to use pet-safe cleaning products or their animals risk becoming very ill.
Pet Safe branded cleaning products contain ingredients that are less harmful to precious pets.
Items without this label—including carpet shampoo, stain removers, and laundry detergent—can harm cats and dogs.
