I’m a sales expert – this is when you should buy a car if you want to get the best deal

An auto sales expert revealed the best time to buy a car and how impulsive decisions can lead to salespeople ripping you off.
While some people might want to get the most out of their cars and drive them until they see expensive mechanic bills, one TikToker said it’s actually not better to wait and see.

Known as (@russflipswhips) on TikTok, the car expert was asked in a video from April, “When is the best time to start looking for a car?”
He replied, “A lot of people on TikTok say the best time to look for a car is at the end of the month, at the end of the quarter, when a new car is transitioning from a newer body style.”
While agreeing with this advice, the TikToker said, “The absolute best time to buy a car, in my opinion, is when you don’t actually need a car.”
He explained, “When you need a car, you’re more likely to make an impulsive decision and do something quickly without doing a lot of research.”

The car expert said waiting for something to go wrong with your car puts you in a vulnerable position with the salespeople.
“If you don’t need a car and aren’t able to buy something, you’ll probably get a better deal because the dealer feels you don’t have to do anything, so” “I’ll try a little harder to do your business.” to earn,” he said.
A TikTok user, who works in the same industry as the video’s creator, disagreed with his marketing tactic.
“People in the industry shouldn’t give advice like that. Lame guy,” commented the TikTok user.
The video creator told the commenter that he was “open and honest and that’s why he sells a lot of cars. Pigs are slaughtered in the industry.”
Another commenter chimed in: “Shit if anything I think that’s great advice and marketing. This video will attract buyers who weren’t quite ready yet!”
SHOP END OF THE MONTH
A TikToker who gives financial advice to her viewers explained the other theory as to why it’s best to wait until the end of the month to buy a car.
Vivian (@yourrichbff) explained in the video how a car salesman’s income is largely based on commissions.
“For every car they sell, they get a rebate,” she said.
“As a seller, they have quotas or targets for the number of cars they are supposed to sell – those quotas usually reset every month.”
The TikToker said dealers often offer bonuses to motivate sellers to sell even more cars.
“Essentially, if you can sell more than a certain number of cars in a month, you get a little extra money on top of your standard commission,” Vivian explains.
“If you’re buying a car at the end of the month, when sellers might be closer to getting a bonus, your seller will likely have more incentive to offer you a deal.”
