I’m a relationship expert – there’s a question that can help you stop fighting with your partner and possibly save your romance

Maintaining a successful relationship takes a lot of effort.
While there’s no secret formula for a relationship that works, there are some tried-and-true tips that can help.
A relationship expert and psychology student who used @Minful_Tom on TikTok, share his practiced wisdom for couples to deal with difficulties.
“A few years ago,” he began, “my wife and I got into the habit of asking each other ‘Do you want comfort or solution?’ when the other person is having a bad time. “
Tom continued: “That one sentence can save us from an argument nine out of ten times.”
In response to a comment asking him to elaborate on the “comfort” part, Tom explained:
“Comfort can be being with your partner and empathically listening to their feelings/problems instead of finding solutions for them.”
That’s a useful trick. Sometimes, all we want is a sympathetic ear or a shoulder to cry on – and any strategic planning from our partner can turn nasty.
Other times, we want someone to help us figure out a way out of the problem.
Understanding what someone needs from us in this moment means we can help them feel better about whatever they’re going through.
The clip has garnered more than a million views and thousands of comments expressing support and praise for the wise words of the sage.
“My husband is very stressed right now. I really feel like this video found me. I’ll ask him this right now,” one viewer wrote.
“THIS! I’ve struggled with communicating my need to be comfortable under stress. My partners often offer solutions because they want to help. This,” a second said.
