From scratch cards to Powerball and Mega Millions, most players have a strategy or a specific routine when it comes to the lottery.
Jared James is a self-proclaimed “lottery scratch expert”. He recently visited the Bobby Bones show to share his best strategy for winning.
In a TikTok from the show (@bobbybonesshow), Jared explained one of his “favorite strategies of all time” that not many people take the time to explore.
Older games that have been around for two or three years don’t have many tickets left and people get tired of playing the same game without winnings.
Sometimes this causes lottery retailers to stop selling the games.
However, many of these games still have top prizes that are “tangible in terms of odds.”
Jared gave the example of a scratch game in Georgia that had a top prize of $2 million.
The odds of winning were one in 1.6 million, but there are currently only 90,000 tickets left to play, he said.
“Playing a game like this where there are very few tickets left but there is still a huge grand prize up for grabs is what you will aim for.”
“It doesn’t happen every time, but when it does, it’s a huge opportunity,” he said.
ITCHEES FOR A VICTORY
Another scratch player shared a similar strategy that helped her win over $1,000 in one week.
Keri Johnson (@thekerijohnson1) won the Monopoly Jackpot game.
In a video posted on TikTok, she shared that she does some intense research before playing.
She checks whether the main prizes have been awarded and selects her game on this basis.
The odds of winning a prize are also available on the site to help people decide whether to play or not.
For those $20 tickets, Keri’s chance of winning a $1,000 prize was 1 in 2,230.
