A LOTTERY expert has shared his winning strategy on how players can win gold, and it all starts with what numbers you pick.

Expert Richard Wheeler says participants who want to get rich overnight should avoid playing obvious numbers like anniversaries and birthdays.

Instead, he says players should aim big and pick big numbers.

“What you can do to increase your odds is pick numbers a little higher, which usually means pick numbers in the 60’s,” Wheeler told Insider Edition.

“The last three draws had numbers in the 60’s and that’s why it was flipped and nobody picks those numbers.”

As for picking numbers based on birthdays and anniversaries, Wheeler says it’s a lousy strategy because it’s what “a lot of people do.”

“Well, simply because a lot of people do. So think about it, one through twelve, and for birthdays and anniversaries, you end up sharing with other people,” Wheeler said.

Finally, buying tickets in bulk with friends or family can increase your chances of winning.

MEGA MILLIONS WINNERS

Meanwhile, the Mega Millions record-breaking frenzy ended on Friday after a single ticket holder took home the grand prize.

The big win came after Mega Millions sales have skyrocketed over the past few days after more than three months without a winning ticket being played.

The unidentified winner purchased the ticket at a speedway gas station in Des Plaines, near Chicago.

The winning numbers were 13-36-45-57-67 and Mega Ball was 14.

The winner managed to beat the odds of 1 in 302.5 million by matching six numbers and the golden Mega Ball.

“We are thrilled to witness one of the largest jackpot wins in Mega Millions history,” said Ohio Lottery Director Pat McDonald in a press release.

“We are excited to see who won and look forward to congratulating the winner soon!”

The winner has yet to step forward and claim their fortune.
