A BEATLES fan celebrating his birthday was stunned when he looked down at a pal’s pint and spotted the face of John Lennon staring at him.
Lee Baker did a double take as he looked down at his pal’s beer and spotted the legendary singer’s incredible likeness in the frothy froth.
A striking picture of the drunk double features a well-defined head, eyes and a mop of hair, and has them joking that on their day in Liverpool they were “convinced Lennon was with them”.
The married 51-year-old said finding the face “felt like a sign”, especially when he was in a booze on Matthew Street – home of the famous Cavern Club where The Fab Four played early in their career .
Train driver Lee of Shrewbury, Shrops, said: “When I saw John Lennon’s face in my mate’s pint it was a bit scary, it felt like a sign.
“It also made us laugh forever, it’s been a joke between us ever since.
It was from before his bearded era in the ’70s when he had a cleaner cut.
“The fact that it was a Beatles weekend made the image in the pint even more poignant.”
The father-of-two had traveled to the Beatles’ birthplace for the weekend with his 45-year-old teaching assistant Julie Baker and two other pals.
The quartet took in the sights and sounds of the city, visiting the childhood homes of Paul McCartney and John Lennon, Penny Lane, Strawberry Field and also the legendary Cavern Club.
After a long day of exploring, they decided to go to a bar and have a few drinks. There they discovered the fresh-faced doppelganger.
Lee said: “I’ve always been a Beatles fanatic. I grew up in the 70’s and my mum and dad were big Beatles fans too, it was the music I grew up listening to.
“John Lennon is my favorite Beatle.
“I like the fact that he was a bit excited, a genius, he was quite angry at times, he was blunt – he sent his MBE back to the Queen.”
