She shared a video on her Tiktok account in response to the question: “If you work in customer service, what is something you never thought you’d have to explain to an adult?”

Andrea revealed that the worst thing a guest can do is get angry when asked for their credit or debit card at the front desk, as many people don’t understand why they need it.

She said: “This happens to everyone hotel workers, especially the front desk.

“Also, go out with people who want to book a hotel to spend the weekend with your girlfriend, boyfriend, husband, wife, your Tinder portal to get a night’s stay – this is for you .

“When you check in at the hotel, the front desk staff will ask you for your ID and your credit or debit card.

“We’ll make the transaction with your card. We’ll authorize your payment, no fees. Yes, there’s a difference.

“The authorization is custody.

“Hotels you stay at will charge an insurance fee – called an incidental fee. Between $50-$100 a night depending on the extent of the accommodation.

“Broken means that if you break it, you buy it. You get it back. We won’t charge you. It takes a few business days but you’ll get it back.

“Don’t yell at us when we ask for your card.”

The video has been viewed nearly 1,500 times and viewers agree with Andréa.

One commented: “I’m sick of explaining this to guests… like how many hotels have you stayed because you should know this by now.”

Another wrote: “Wow, I’m so tired of explaining this to everyone.”

A third person said: “This Tiktok should be repeated when subscribing!”

A hotel receptionist recently revealed What are the most annoying things guests ask her? daily.

She recalls an incident in which a customer wanted her room rate to match an advertisement she claimed she had seen but had no proof of.
