I’m a former Navy pilot – I was stunned by inexplicable “UFO sightings” while flying my fighter jet

A former Navy pilot has shared his reaction to unexplained alleged UFO sightings while flying his jet.

Lt. Ryan Graves said his squadron first saw UAPs — unidentified aerial phenomena, or UFOs — in late 2013 or early 2014.

In a new episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, Graves shared stories about his encounters with unknown objects in the sky.

“We saw something while we were flying in our jets, but we saw it in the context of our everyday flying,” Graves said.

“For me personally, the experience was just flying into the area like I would any other day.

“And instead of seeing empty airspace … suddenly there were a lot of different radar contacts, which immediately poses a problem because we could hit one of those or someone working in our area.”

Graves said they updated their radar system, which is why they thought they were hitting the various contacts.

Rogan asked if it was restricted airspace, but Graves said the question was difficult to answer.

“It’s not restricted in the sense that only one person can go in there,” Graves said of operating in a military area.

Graves said the radar can tell where the object is, where it’s going and how fast.

“It’s a representation, it’s a block on our screen to display that information.

“So if we see that on our radar, we can tell where it is, maybe what’s around it.”

Graves said when he first came across one of these items, they thought it was a glitch in their radar.

But then he realized that something had to be there “to reflect that energy or to create it.”

“So at this point… we now think that’s real; we really have to respect that as a security risk, even if it’s just a small piece of tin foil,” he said.

“When we first saw one visually, the object was right at what we call the area’s entry point,” Graves continued.

“There were two planes in my squadron, VFA 11… and they took off as a swarm of two… and when they hit the area, one of those objects flew right between the planes.

One of the crew members saw the object and immediately came back and landed, Graves said.

“He had all his gear on, which isn’t usually a good thing,” Graves said.

“He simply described it as a black or dark gray cube. And that cube was in a transparent or translucent sphere.”

Rogan notes that Graves’ description of the object is similar to other reported sightings.

Graves said it levitated and flew through the sky.

Graves previously told CBS News that UFOs were seen “every day for a couple of years.”

In the same area, photos were taken in 2019 showing mysterious objects in the sky.

The Pentagon has confirmed the images are of objects it cannot identify.

Another picture taken off the coast of Jacksonville, Fla. in 2015 was captured with a target camera by members of Graves’ squadron.

The pilots can be heard saying, “Look at that thing, it’s spinning! My goodness!

“They all fly against the wind, the wind is 120 knots from the west. Look at that thing, dude.”

Graves admitted he wasn’t sure what he was seeing.

He said: “It’s hard to explain. You have rotation, you have high altitude.

“You have drive, don’t you? I do not know. I don’t know what it is, honestly.”

Though nothing has been confirmed, Graves said pilots are speculating as to what the images could be — classified US technology, an adversary’s spy vehicle, or something otherworldly.

Graves said he was concerned because the objects, whatever they are, could pose a threat to US security.

“To be honest, I’m worried. You know, if that were tactical jets from another country hanging out there, that would be a huge problem,” Graves said.

“But because it looks a little different, we’re not ready to actually face the problem.

“We like to ignore the fact that they are out there watching us every day.”
