I’m a former Man Utd star and got thrown out of a car because I couldn’t hold it back when my guts were in turmoil

Former Manchester United star Luke Chadwick was once thrown out of a car because he “absolutely stank”.

As his career progressed, Sir Alex Ferguson sent him on loan to Royal Antwerp to gain valuable experience.

His lack of cooking skills at the time led to more than an upset stomach.

And when Chadwick went to practice with teammate Sandro da Silva, seven years his senior, he found himself in a difficult situation.

Pass on the experience Tick tockChadwick, now 42, laughed as he said: “I’ve carpooled with Roy Keane before but probably the scariest carpool I’ve ever been in was when I was on loan at Royal Antwerp.”

“There was a guy I played with, a fantastic player, a Brazilian named Sandro da Silva.

“And he would always pick me up from an apartment and take me to training.”

“It was my first time living far from home, I wasn’t much of a cook and my bowels were in turmoil.

“Anyway, Sandro came and picked me up, we were on our way to the training ground and I had a real stomach ache.

“And I just couldn’t hold it back and it absolutely stank.

“Sandro turned to me with a look on his face of absolute disgust, he was so angry – he pulled the car to the curb and leaned over me and told me to get out.”

Chadwick made 38 first-team appearances for United, scoring two goals and providing five assists before making a permanent move to West Ham in 2004.

He then worked at Stoke, Norwich, MK Dons and Cambridge before giving up his career and becoming a coach.
